Jooeun Shim
Lab Director
Jooeun Shim is an assistant professor of teaching at Teachers College. Her research focuses on developing technological tools and instructional approaches that deepen STEM learning through real-world data collection, place-based inquiry, and meaningful problem solving. She works through sustained co-design partnerships with teachers and students, creating learning environments that blend classroom needs with emerging tools such as mobile technologies and portable sensors. Her work examines how young people use these technologies to investigate complex community issues, build data literacy, interpret evidence, and take informed action. She holds an EdD from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.
